Manure can improve soil fertility and support healthy oil palm growth, but where, when, and how you apply it matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For immature palms, use well-decomposed manure and spread it around the root zone, leaving space around the stem. Don\u2019t pile manure directly against a young palm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For mature palms, the roots spread much farther, so manure should be distributed around the root zone, especially under the canopy, rather than dumped in one spot beside the trunk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simple example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have 1-year-old palms, don’t make a heap of manure around each stem. Spread it evenly around the palm so the developing roots can access the nutrients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For mature palms, spread the manure over a wider area because their active roots extend much farther from the trunk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One mistake farmers make:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking that *more manure = more yield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The right quantity depends on the palm’s age, soil condition, manure type, and nutrient requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
